Inaugural Oregon Half Marathon to Fund Childrens' Cancer Research

On September 7, 2013, the inaugural charity run, Hero-Up Half Marathon, 5k and Kids Run will kick off their very first year, with 100% of the race net proceeds going to fund children's cancer research aimed at finding a cure.

All runners that register before August 1, 2013 are guaranteed a tech shirt.  All half marathon finishers will receive a hero-up race medal.  The course has some flat stretches with several rolling hills through the course that passes through multiple parks.  The event is located in Tigard, Oregon, about 10 miles southwest of Portland, Oregon.

For the Kids Race, currently, the plan is to offer race day registration only, with the entry fee being a new toy or new pair of pajamas that will be donated to children's Cancer Clinics at local hospitals, or $1.00.

Dress up as your favorite Super Hero or come as your usual self, all are welcome.  The course is semi-walker friendly, with a time limit of 3.5 hours.  With the rolling hills along the course, I'd imagine walkers would have to be a fairly fast walker to make it through in 3.5 hours.
